Job Reference: ACL/11.2024 Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £25,878.40 and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £32,358 per annum. Working Hours: 26.4 hours per week over 4 days, working one in four Fridays, 52 weeks per year. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Care Lecturer to join our Animal Care department. The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high quality professional practice and provide quality teaching and learning at a variety of levels. Contributing to the development of outstanding provision The successful applicant must have: · Recognised teaching qualification – PGCE or equivalent · Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in animal study / science based subjects · Experience in Vet Nursing and Animal Husbandry · V1 or a willingness to acquire · Minimum 2 years practical experience gained within the relevant setting · Have experience of working with domestic animals and actual teaching experience outside teacher training routes full or part time · Good communication skills and the ability to be a team player, flexible and pro-active · Managing planning, communication and administrative duties · Ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines · Relate to students and to set appropriate standards of punctuality, attendance and conduct · To teach across a range of subjects including animal feeding and nutrition, animal accommodation, veterinary nursing and animal health The roles main duties include: · Teaching, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses within Animal Care curriculum area and support cross college initiatives. · Taking responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area including Course Leader role including supervision of the animal centre. · Provide support and guidance to students. · Operating as an effective member of relevant course teams and to work closely with other areas. · Carrying out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard and within established deadlines · Ensuring safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible. · Providing such returns or reports as may from time to time be required by the Head of Curriculum or College. · Assisting in the recruitment of students, including interviewing and enrolements. · Assisting in the marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events. · Assisting in the development of curriculum support materials · Assisting with programmes of work experience and/or industrial and commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements. This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
