Summary:

Work within the Manufacturing function as part of the manufacturing engineering team.

It is a 4-year programme, with one day per week spent at Heriot Watt University and the other days on-site at the Glenrothes facility on rotational assignments, in each of the production areas and support teams.

This apprenticeship leads to an Honours Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering. (BEng (Hons) Engineering Design and Manufacture)

Main Duties:

Key responsibilities will be to work closely with senior engineers, in each of the manufacturing areas, to learn manufacturing principles and techniques related to manufacture of complex electronic and mechanical products.

You will learn the manufacturing processes, procedures and tools that are used and contribute to live tasks and projects.

You will learn to work with cutting-edge technology, in order to manufacture our exciting products including utilising automation, robotics and additive manufacturing techniques.

There will be an expectation that you participate in Raytheon’s CORE Continuous Improvement Programme. This will result in you becoming a qualified CORE specialist and the opportunity to use in practice on real improvements.

Apprenticeship Programme:

On joining Raytheon, you will undertake a structured four-year apprenticeship programme which will incorporate theoretical study at university in electronic or mechanical engineering. Experiential learning throughout the four years will be undertaken in the four years, on-site at Glenrothes, on a rotational assignment in each of the production areas.

Each apprentice is assigned an experienced engineer as a mentor and will be linked in with an existing apprentice as a buddy to ensure they have access to the help and support required.

Candidate Requirements:

SQA Highers at BBBB including Mathematics, plus Physics or similar Engineering course

SQA HNC in an engineering discipline (or relevant Modern/Technical

Apprenticeship) with Engineering Mathematics 1 & 2 (or equivalent)

OR

A-Levels at BBC including Mathematics, plus Physics or similar Engineering course

Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering in conjunction with SQA Highers

at BBB* including Mathematic

OR

A combination of qualifications totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 6
