We are seeking exceptional statisticians to enhance our research capabilities in Statistics. Our primary area of strength lies in Statistical Ecology, centered around the world-renowned Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling (CREEM). The majority of CREEM staff members are statisticians within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, with strong connections to the School of Biology and the School of Medicine. Recently, we appointed a new professor of Statistics in Bioscience, jointly with the School of Medicine. It is anticipated that one of the positions will be in this field. We have expanding relationships with the School of Computer Science in Data Science research and the School of Geography and Geosciences, including Sustainable Development.
Our department boasts robust and growing Master's programmes in Statistics, featuring our successful MSc in Applied Statistics and Data Mining (approximately 20 students per year) now in its tenth year, a new Master's programme in Data Science jointly with the School of Computer Science, and a PG Dip in Applied Statistics and Data Mining.
The successful candidate can expect an estimated salary ranging from £40,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, based on the UK average salary for a lecturer in Statistics.
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a PhD in Statistics or a related field, with a strong publication record and excellent teaching skills.
