Description
In this role as an Associate Lecturer (specialism English in secondary classrooms), you will be part of the team working on the Teach First PGDE and PGCE programmes. You will be responsible for supporting the Teach First English trainees and ECTs to become the next generation of research informed practitioners, on their journey to completing their academic studies.
You will give them the tools to support the students in school who are being denied the opportunities they need to thrive in school through the support of the academic assignments of the programme.
About The Role
Whilst Teach First provides the training, the university is responsible for providing support that will enable them to complete the academic studies at M-level/Level 7. This support will include creating a toolkit of English assignment resources that develop trainees' Masters level skills; providing formative and summative feedback on assignments to support them in their practice and academic studies; and supporting trainees needing reasonable adjustments in the completion of the academic assignments. This will be underpinned by your knowledge and use of cutting-edge research and practice in English secondary classrooms.
About You
You will have QTS, a first degree, a higher degree (or working towards a higher degree) and will be confident in providing support at Level 7/ MA level and working with trainee teachers and ECTs in Secondary English classrooms. Experience of working in a school or other educational institution with teachers of English is essential. You must have the knowledge and understanding of pedagogy and reflective practice, as well as knowledge of current thinking in wider educational issues, particularly in relation to the teaching of English in the secondary classroom.
You will have excellent communication skills, a collaborative and enthusiastic approach to teacher education and be a committed team player. You will be a confident communicator and user of IT, particularly online learning environments. You must be a flexible thinker, solutions focused and be willing to engage in the development of this area of teacher education.

Grade Ac2 - £19.23 per hour (a multiplier of 2.5 may be applied depending on the work offered)
