Role Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver vocational training and education to adult learners in the fields of Construction, Rail, and Prison Delivery. This includes planning and executing high-quality lessons, assessing learner progress, and providing support to ensure learners achieve their training and career goals. The Trainer/Assessor will collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure the training programs are effective, compliant, and aligned with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Delivery:
- Plan and deliver engaging training sessions in Construction, Rail, and Prison Delivery, meeting both industry standards and learner needs.
- Use diverse teaching methods tailored to adult learners, including practical demonstrations, workshops, and classroom-based learning.
- Implement formative assessments aligned with qualifications and learning outcomes.
- Ensure training content aligns with external qualification frameworks (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) and complies with regulatory standards.
Learner Support:
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and pastoral care to help learners achieve their goals.
- Monitor learner progress and deliver constructive feedback to ensure they remain on track.
- Offer additional assistance to learners with challenges such as learning difficulties or language barriers.
Assessment and Monitoring:
- Evaluate learners using a variety of methods, including practical tasks, written assignments, and tests.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of learner progress, achievements, and areas for development, in line with reporting requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews of learner performance and address concerns promptly in collaboration with managers.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all training activities comply with internal policies, external regulations, and funding requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, assessments, and learner achievements as required by the organization and awarding bodies.
- Stay informed about changes in legislation, industry standards, and training methodologies to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Engage with external partners, employers, and stakeholders to adapt training to industry needs.
- Contribute to the development of new training materials and courses to maintain relevance and quality.
Health & Safety and Safeguarding:
- Adhere to health and safety regulations during training sessions, particularly in construction and rail environments.
- Promote safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all learners.

- Take responsibility for personal and professional growth by attending training, workshops, and industry events.
- Stay updated on best practices in teaching, training, and assessment to enhance effectiveness and team performance.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong vocational knowledge and experience in Construction, Rail, or Prison Delivery sectors.
- Proven experience teaching or training adults, with the ability to adapt methods for diverse learners.
- Teaching qualifications (e.g., PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or a willingness to achieve one.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire learners.
- Ability to deliver training in both classroom and practical environments (e.g., construction sites, rail stations, or prison settings).
- Knowledge of assessment methods and learner evaluation.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and safeguarding practices.
- Proficiency in IT and digital tools for training, assessment, and administration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities effectively.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., Ofsted, awarding bodies).
- Experience developing training materials and content.
