This includes the BSc (Hons) Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science, BSc (Hons) Environmental Science and the FdSc Integrated Wildlife Conservation.
We’re looking for a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Biology to join our School of Applied Sciences on a full time basis, for six month covering a period of maternity leave.
You’ll be supporting our students on our environmental science and conservation science programmes, by contributing to teaching and learning, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across the discipline. There may be an opportunity to lead the BSc Integrated Wildlife Conservation (top up), a one-year top up to our foundation Integrated Wildlife Conservation degree, and act as Link Tutor to our partner Bristol Zoological Society, depending on experience.
Your work may include teaching on our Life on Earth and Professional Work Skills undergraduate modules and occasionally, our lecturers will also be required to support teaching teams in other programmes within the School (e.g. Biological Sciences).
There may also be an opportunity to contribute to research within the School, including within one of its research centres, such as the Centre for Sustainable Agri-Food and Environment (SAFE).
Ideally, you can deliver teaching across the broad environmental sciences and conservation sciences and with experience of leading modules and/or programmes in environmental science or conservation science. Experience and knowledge of biological science as it is applied to environmental science is essential.
The School of Applied Sciences is a very proud recipient of an Athena SWAN Silver Award and our commitment to creating a culture for gender equality is reflected in a number of ongoing actions related to workload management, flexible working and career development within the School.
You’ll have a science-based PhD relevant to biological science or, if from a professional practice background, a Master’s qualification together with significant professional practice experience. We are looking for someone with a background and broad knowledge across environmental science or conservation science who can deliver teaching, primarily on our undergraduate environmental science and conservation science programmes. You’ll have experience of teaching and assessment at an HEI and can demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching.
We are looking for someone who aligns to UWE values. You’re experienced in leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. You can demonstrate how you keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
