Imperial College London is seeking a Principal Lecturer in People, Culture and Inclusion. This position offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in cutting-edge teaching, curriculum development, and educational research while contributing to the delivery of world-leading undergraduate and postgraduate education.
What you would be doing
As a Principal Lecturer, among other responsibilities which can be seen in the full Job Description for the role, you will:
- Create and provide excellent teaching within an established programme of study.
- Give lectures and develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches.
- Use appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods.
- Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement.
- Contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and curricula.
- Be module/course/programme organiser as appropriate.
- Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
- Take responsibility for development of new initiatives in teaching.
- Contribute to the administration of the School, participate in the internal life of the School, and to enhance its reputation for pedagogy.
- Make a sustained contribution to education strategy within the Business School, leading to innovation in programme design and impactful delivery, contributing to Imperial’s learning and teaching strategy.
- Provide strategic leadership in curriculum design and innovation across a range of programmes and levels.
- Take an evidence-based approach to designing and implementing changes in response to educational scholarship and lessons learned, working with others in same area of expertise and/or across university to make improvements to education practice.
- Support the Business School’s new strategy and contribute actively to its development.
What we are looking for
We welcome candidates who demonstrate, amongst other requirements in line with the person specification for the post, the following:
- A PhD degree and/or postgraduate qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline
- Sustained excellence in innovating and delivering courses related to raising inclusivity in culture.
- Sustained excellence in innovating and delivering courses related to values, culture, EDI, and inclusive leadership.
- Experience of designing and delivery of such courses in international contexts evidenced by student feedback and/or peer observation.
- Recognised expert in educational best practice for their subject area.
- Significant innovations in relevant learning methodologies (inclusive of experiential learning). Evidence of senior educational and industrial experience in the sector with a proven national/ international track record.
- Specialist knowledge in the relevant discipline and of teaching methods and techniques within your own area.
- Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop teaching programmes and the provision of learning support.
- Familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess teaching, including approaches to encourage classroom participation.
- Expertise in the design and successful delivery of in-person/ online courses on the subject matter, both in synchronous and asynchronous modes.
- Strong track record of scholarly outputs including work related to education practice in their discipline.
