Job Description: Training Manager / MHE Trainer
Location: NewCold UK II, Curver Way, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 5XN
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Training Manager / MHE Trainer to lead and manage all training operations at our Corby site. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering training programs that drive operational excellence, safety, and workforce engagement. This position combines strategic leadership in training operations with hands-on MHE training delivery to support the business's operational training needs.
Key Responsibilities
Training Leadership & Operations
- Take ownership of the full training program across the site, ensuring alignment with operational objectives and compliance requirements.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and support for all operational training activities at the site, acting as the first point of contact for training-related queries.
- Manage, and maintain the training matrix for all colleagues to ensure accurate records of training completion, renewals, and certifications.
- Lead the local MHE assessment and training program, ensuring all operators are appropriately trained, certified, and working to the highest safety and operational standards.
- Proactively identify training needs and skill gaps within the workforce and create plans for continuous improvement through targeted training initiatives.
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of operational procedures and promote a culture of safety and compliance.
MHE Training & Auditing
- Deliver in-house MHE (Material Handling Equipment) training and assessments for all operators, including forklifts, and other associated equipment as qualified to deliver.
- Conduct internal audits of processes and procedures related to operational and MHE training to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Liaise with external FLT companies for fleet management and ensure all MHE equipment is maintained to the required standards.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Organise and arrange LOLER inspections to ensure equipment compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a culture of safety awareness and adherence to health and safety policies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as the site lead for promoting and embedding a culture of continuous improvement within operational training.
- Provide leadership and guidance to colleagues to ensure adherence to best practices in training and operational procedures.
- Undertake any other training-related tasks or duties required to support the site's operational objectives.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- RTITB-accredited MHE Trainer certification (or equivalent).
- Experience working within a BRC-accredited environment is highly desirable.
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in Material Handling Equipment (MHE) operations and training.
- Proven track record in operations training management (3–7 years).
- Strong background in leading Leadership in Safety Training (LSIT) initiatives.
Certificates & Licenses
- Current FLT (Forklift Truck) license.
