Role Overview:
The Lead Tutor will be responsible for delivering and managing high-quality education for students aged 14-19 with complex needs and behavioural challenges. This role requires a combination of teaching expertise, curriculum development, staff leadership, and student support to ensure an inclusive and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
• Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated GCSE Maths and/or English lessons that cater to individual learning needs and abilities.
• Develop schemes of work and assessment plans that align with national curriculum standards and meet the needs of students with additional learning requirements.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies, including project-based and practical learning approaches, to enhance engagement and motivation.
• Monitor student progress through regular assessments and data analysis, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
• Provide targeted intervention for students who require additional support to achieve their learning goals.
Leadership & Management:
• Oversee the curriculum, ensuring it is high-quality, inclusive, and responsive to student needs.
• Manage a team of educators, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development to improve teaching standards.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing support plans where necessary.
• Lead by example in promoting high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour management.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures, creating a safe and structured learning environment.
Student Support & Engagement:
• Build strong relationships with learners, fostering a positive, supportive, and structured learning environment.
• Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development and wellbeing.
• Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in developing self-regulation and resilience.
• Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
• Support students in setting and achieving their academic and personal development goals, preparing them for further education or employment.
Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (or a willingness to work towards it).
• Proven experience working with students with complex needs and behavioural challenges.
• Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and differentiated teaching approaches.
• Excellent behaviour management skills with the ability to create a structured and engaging learning environment.
• Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role, with the ability to support and develop staff.
• A commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, and inclusive education.
• Full UK driving licence.
