Overview of the role:
The successful candidates will be a competent and proven systems engineer, capable of checking and facilitating designs, drawings, supporting calculations and technical documents (inc. Plans) without direct supervision. They will have the ability to translate a client's requirements into a meaningful engineering and technical solution. Good communication skills are essential and engineering design and systems engineering experience is fundamental, defence experience is preferable but not essential.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Be responsible for the Engineering Quality of the project delivery, ensuring compliance with client specifications and engineering standards and local domain policy and procedures
- Support the Engineering Manager in managing the engineering team and supervising workload
- Be responsible for the technical quality of all conceptual designs, optioneering studies, requirements capture, user requirements specification and use cases
- Have experience of configuration management and VVT activities (Validation, Verification and Testing)
- Have experience in designing for functional safety and mission-critical systems
- Have experience of lifecycle and maturity management
- Quickly self-deliver pragmatic systems solutions from a brief problem statement
- Maintain compliance with Engineering Standards and applicable legislation
- Participate in Design and System Level Reviews and, where appropriate, organise such reviews. Ensure that subsequent design meets the project and client requirements
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of data and information received from clients is upheld
- Ensure effective project delivery to time and cost.
- Will have demonstrable experience in leading a team of engineers undertaking a wide range of engineering and technology packages
- Support and mentor apprentices / graduates (where appropriate).
What you’ll bring:
- Educated to degree in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant experience
- Incorporated / Chartered Engineer or working towards gaining professional status (C.Eng. via INCOSE / IET / SaRS)
- Have working knowledge of lifecycle management systems, configuration management, requirements management systems: i.e., PLM & PDM
- Must be able to obtain or hold suitable security clearance
