At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly support the RAF and Ministry of Defence, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from vehicle and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the RAF, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to their fleet.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Vehicle Training Team here at Brize Norton as a Vehicle Training Instructor. You will deliver training on various airfield platforms and material handling equipment, which includes all pre and post course administration.
Main accountabilities:
- Deliver initial, continuation and familiarisation training on respective Material Handling Equipment (Counterbalance) and various other vehicles.
- Administration of all training as allocated by the Team Leader.
- Raise training records and update systems on completion of training.
- Update training databases and compile monthly statistics.
- Undertake driving tasks when not delivering training.
- Drive the most cost-effective undertaking of tasks whilst maintaining exceptional levels of safety and quality.
- Deliver a “Zero Harm” culture with open honest reporting of Near Misses and safety related occurrences.
- Carry out Snow Clearing Duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
What you'll need to do the role:
- Full UK Driving Licence CAT C (D1 licence desirable, but not essential)
- Current experience in Counterbalance operation and/or Material Handling Equipment training delivery. (desirable, but not essential)
- Hold a colour perception category of the required standard to enable the issue of an Airfield Driving Permit (CP2 Safe). Can be obtained through any optician.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training or an MoD equivalent Defence Training Course – (Desirable, however training will be provided to the right candidate).
- Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office.
- Excellent Communication skills.
