Job Summary
As part of our current ambitions and growth, at this very significant time, we would like to recruit to a part-time Lectureship in Physiotherapy with a specific focus on cardiorespiratory. You will have current professional registration with the HCPC as a physiotherapist, and member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. Candidates will also have a degree in the relevant subject area. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.At Grade 7, this post provides an exciting opportunity for candidates to apply to take an active role in the development and delivery of a Post Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy.
Qualifications/Training
Essential- Degree in the relevant subject area.
- Expertise in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy
- Professional registration (HCPC) and membership (CSP).
DesirablePGCertHE teaching qualification or equivalent, or minimum of 3 years substantial teaching experience for conversion to Advance HE Senior Fellowship.
Experience/Knowledge - Teaching
EssentialA specialist knowledge of contemporary policy and practice in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy education and practice.
Desirable- Knowledge of working in multi-disciplinary education.
- Knowledge of online learning development.
- Advance HE Senior Fellowship (negotiated as highlighted previously).
- Evidence of contribution to the wider student experience e.g. in recruitment/retention initiatives, in employability/enterprise initiatives, student welfare.
Experience/Knowledge – Scholarship
EssentialCapability to develop and manage projects, and to disseminate results through presentation at relevant conferences, publication in relevant journals, social and other media.
Desirable- Capability to publish scholarship in peer-reviewed journals of international standard, conferences, social and other media.
- Potential to attract external funding for scholarship, improvement and innovation.
Skills/Abilities
Essential- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- Demonstrable computer skills, including MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching duties will include:
- Support the development of the new academic programme that addresses strategic opportunities.
- Engage in scholarly, professional and improvement-related activities around cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and other multi-disciplinary programmes in partnership with students, local stakeholders and service users.
- Plan, prepare and deliver the programme, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
- Motivate staff in order to proactively engage students in their own learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback.
- Supervise students’ projects.
- Act as personal tutor providing advice, guidance and support.
- Contribute to the growth and improvement of the practice learning circuit capacity and quality, and support students’ learning in practice.
- Keep abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments, especially within cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
- Maintain and develop scholarly activities in line with University and College strategies.
- Publish evidence of scholarship related to learning and teaching.
- Ensure adherence to organisational and professional body requirements in all aspects of academic work, and personal professional development.
- Actively take part in project-related activities that maximise student engagement, and that mitigate the risks of attrition.
