About the Department:
The Law Department sits within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology and is a small but supportive team who work in a collaborative manner to provide a high-quality student experience. Our focus is on practice ready programmes that will align with professional practice requirements
About the Opportunity:
As a Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, ensuring high levels of student outcomes. You will teach and support on-campus activity as well taking the lead on implementing, monitoring and evaluation of Law Department strategies at our London Campuses. This will involve:
- Supporting Programme Leaders with the development and monitoring of our programmes, ensuring high levels of student outcomes
- Working with the Law Department Leadership Team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of programmes
- Undertaking scholarly activity
- Responsibility for a programme or suite of associated named awards/programmes
- Module leadership of several large, core modules
- Overall responsibility for a year group or cohort within a large programme
- Line management of Lecturers (who may themselves lead modules)
You will collaborate with stakeholders across the university to ensure efficient, high-quality programme delivery that aligns with Arden’s vision of accessible, career-focused education.
** you will be campus based for up to 3 days a week to suit the student timetable. You will be expected to work from both Holborn and Tower Hill as required. There may be some hybrid working, as well as occasional evenings and weekends.
About You:
You will need to have a good understanding of both the Qualifying Law Degree and Solicitors Qualifying Examinations as well as wider industry issues.
You will need to be:
- Qualified to postgraduate level in English Law.
- Have the knowledge required to be able to teach across the LLB curriculum including the foundations of legal knowledge and at least two other modules offered by the Law Department. This includes modules linked to the SQE curriculum.
- Have a strong understanding of current teaching, learning and assessment practices in Higher Education
- AdvanceHE Recognition - FHEA or willing to achieve within 12-18 months (we will support you to achieve recognition)
- A PhD in Law and/or legal practice experience is welcome but not essential.
