The Post
The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking teacher to join the highly successful Applied Human Biology Department, to teach Applied Human Biology and to take responsibility for units within the course.
The post is available from 26 August 2025 on a permanent, full-time basis. The post would equally suit someone with existing management experience of someone looking for their first management role.
All new members of staff receive mentors to help them settle into the College. This post provides an exciting opportunity for those wishing to specialise in sixth form education. Candidates who have little or no experience teaching Applied Human Biology are still encouraged to apply, as the Department are able to support those wishing to make the transition to sixth form teaching.
The Department
The Department is housed in the County Building, along with other STEM subjects. The labs are fully equipped with data projectors, white boards, Wi-Fi, gas, water, and fume cupboards. The Department has access to mobile learning devices to further enhance learning.
The team consists of eight other members of teaching staff who work in a collaborative style, contributing to central teaching resources. The Department also has access to an experienced team of Technicians who provide support across all the science subjects.
The Department is led by a Head of Department, supported by two Course Leaders. The Department meets once a week during the College’s dedicated Meeting Slot during the College day.
The Department has an excellent record of outstanding student achievement, high quality provision and innovative curriculum development.
Students regularly progress onto a variety of science and non-science related degree courses, such as Physiotherapy, Paramedical Science, Sports Therapy, Nursing, Midwifery, Biomedical Science and Social and Sports Science, as well as a range of highly competitive apprenticeships.

Salary
The salary for this post is up to £51,185 per annum. The course leader responsibility carries an additional payment of £810.75 per annum.
The contact time for a full-time teacher is 21 hours per week (20 hours teaching and 1 hour Tutor).
