Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Swimming Teacher to join our team, someone who can lead by example and ensure the seamless delivery of our growing Learn to Swim program in West Dunbartonshire. You will be supporting the delivering a number of programmes including School Swimming, Early Years, Adults and our new See My Ability programme.
As part of the Lead Teacher role you will deliver high quality Swimming Lessons and support the day to day operations of our learn to swim programme. This will include supporting our venue Swim Officers, mentoring newly qualified teachers, creating seamless pathways for participants and providing poolside feedback to parents.
Qualifications:
- National Governing Body Swimming Teacher Certificate (Essential) SSTQ/UKCC or equivalent.
Responsibilities:
- To plan, deliver and review a range of swimming lessons that are progressive and fun within a safe environment as directed by the programme Swim Officer.
- To support the development of swimming teachers, trainee teachers and volunteers by providing advice and guidance in the planning and delivery of activities. Evaluating performance and providing suitable feedback.
- To work and regularly communicate with parents/guardians, Teachers and Head Teachers.
- To provide the programme Swim Officer with feedback on sessions being delivered and highlight any issues with these individuals/groups involved in sessions.
- To represent West Dunbartonshire Leisure Sports Development Unit in the community, schools and local/regional festivals.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and/or Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
