About the role
Telford College have an excellent opportunity for a Vocational Employability Tutor within our Employer Engagement team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and teach vocational employability to include warehousing & storage, customer service, Lean management, Mental Health, Team Leading, Business Admin and logistics pathways leading to a Class 2 HGV license to adult students and to agreed success targets.
- Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of students and follow up as required to ensure students achieve their targets.
- Carry out, collate and feedback initial and/or diagnostic assessments to identify students’ ILP and support as required, providing differentiated learning strategies to enable students to achieve their primary learning goal.
- Provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific program.
- Mark work in a timely way and provide quality feedback to students.
- Evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of students in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback.
- Maintain quality systems related to the teaching of Employability including designing work schemes, lesson plans, assessment plans and assessment activities.
- Update and maintain electronic documentation to support teaching and learning, assessment and tracking of learner progress.
- Attend Employability Team meetings and contribute to the continual quality improvement mechanisms (e.g. maintenance of course files, updating workbooks and contributing in regular CPD)
Skills, knowledge and expertise
Qualifications and training- Teaching qualification, e.g. CTTLs or equivalent, or a firm commitment to achieve a Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
- Hold Level 2 English and Maths equivalent or be prepared to work towards it. This would be following a successful achievement of 80% in an initial assessment.
Skills and expertise- Have experience of working in a customer service, warehouse and logistics environment and delivering of employability programmes.
- Suitable experience and/ or the ability to deliver and design Employability courses.
- Experience of delivering to Awarding Organisation standards including assessment against set criteria.
- Experience of marking work and providing feedback so students know how to progress and improve.
- Experience of embedding English and Maths into vocational programmes.
- Ability to deliver excellence in teaching and learning.
