Halstock Cabinet Makers are seeking a Workshop Floor Manager & Skills Coach to join our production team.
Based in Somerset; we design, manufacture, and install bespoke interiors for the high-end residential market.

Job Description:
The role is all about leadership, support, coaching, and training of makers, setting the conditions for all to succeed and leading by example.
Leadership:
- Motivates the production team and encourages Halstock team spirit.
- Leading the making teams to use HCML tried and tested processes to ensure efficiency.
- Lead by example with exceptional organisation and planning of machinery usage.
- Champions cleanliness, tidiness, and flow of the workshop.
- Champions take pride in their work and strive for the highest quality standards.
- Champions makers take pride in their tool kit and HCML fixed and portable machinery.
- Process planning, aiming to minimise handling and getting the processes in the right order for each department to maximise flow.
Training and development of Halstock staff:
- Observing working practices, offering advice, and coaching staff.
- Support, training, and coaching of makers, offering guidance on best practices and taking the time to work with people to explain and show how best to do things.
- Works with the Production Manager to set out how planned training is to be delivered by Apprentice Trainers.
- Ensures all staff are trained to use machinery and plan in refresher training with our machine trainers.
- Ensure best practises are shared amongst making teams.
Scheduling/Planning:
- Encourages the team to plan overtime to ensure compliance to key dates.
- Batch processing of multiple components for efficiency gains as set out by the Production Manager and maximising pre-finishing to reduce reassembly tasks.
Health & Safety:
- Observing working practices for H&S compliance
- Champions use of PPE
- Champions near miss reporting
- Chairs toolbox talks as requested
Productivity:
- Attends process planning with Lead Makers & Production Manager, aiming to minimise handling and getting the processes in the right order for each department to maximise flow and run through in the least number of hours.
- Actions change around for space planning of where the next jobs are to be set out, and jobs moving to the next departments.
KPIs:
- Reduction in hours used vs the sold hours in production
- Quality of furniture
