£27,887
Location
London / Hybrid. 50% of time split between the office/on-site and remote working over a 4-week period, with some variation subject to business requirements.

Entry Requirements
You should already hold or be working towards a minimum of 2 GCSE’s Grade 4 (C) and above including Maths and English language plus 2 A-Levels in any subject at grade A* - D or equivalent.
You are not eligible for this scheme if you currently hold or are working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject or have already studied content from the qualification for this scheme.
You must be 18 years of age by 9 th September 2025 to be eligible for this scheme.

A role in Human Resources within the Chief People Officer function at TfL is all about the people that keep London moving and driving our vision to be a strong green heartbeat for London. Your role will contribute towards ensuring we develop and support the colleagues at the heart of our business, by making sure the right people, with the right experience and skills, are in the right jobs. Without this, we cannot continue to deliver our world class service. You’ll learn how to support the core business in the delivery of generalist and specialist HR services within our Chief People Officer function and play an important role in achieving the TfL Colleague Strategy.

What will I be doing?
You'll begin a comprehensive development programme designed to kick start your successful career in a range of people profession teams.A combination of practical, on the job experience and theory will combine to give you an overview of best professional practise, resourcing and talent planning, performance management and employment law.
Skills
As an apprentice, your 30-month development programme will be made up of up to six placement rotations. Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career across a range of ‘People’ professional disciplines. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every apprentice’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:
Business Services Function. Your first placement will be in our Employee Services team, providing the first line response to business queries, gaining an in-depth knowledge of our policies and how things work at TfL.
Subject Matter Expert. You will get the chance to complete three placements in our Subject Matter Expert teams, providing you with the opportunity to specialise in a more technical areas of HR, which can include, Talent, Reward, Recruitment, Diversity & Inclusion, Skills & Employment, Learning & Development, Organisational Change and Employee Relations.
HR Business Partner. Your final two placements will be in the HR Business Partnering team, supporting a range of initiatives including talent and resourcing, change programmes and organisational structure and design.
Where can this career take me?
You'll gain a CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management and become a CIPD associate member. Through a combination of on-the-job learning and classroom training, you’ll develop the diverse skills and understanding needed for a successful career in HR or People Leadership. This foundation can lead to a role in employee case management, recruitment, learning and development, talent, diversity and inclusion, or business partnering depending on which areas you have developed interests in on the scheme.
What training and support will you get?
Whilst on the scheme, we’ll support your technical development through a wide range of on-the-job practical experiences and placements. We’ll also support your professional development through a combination of classroom-led training courses, online training courses, mentoring opportunities and structured networking opportunities. You will receive one-to-one support throughout the programme from your scheme sponsor and your Placement Manager. You’ll also be connected to a ‘buddy’ who will be a more experienced apprentice from the scheme.
You will typically have one day a week as a study day, ongoing course work to complete and classroom training that will require travel to our partner’s site.
We also have an established Graduate and Apprentice Committee as well as an Alumni group, these groups are powerful networks in developing your understanding of the organisation, different apprenticeship schemes and opportunities to develop your career. Many current graduates and apprentices believe this to be a powerful support network and they often hold apprentice only events that are very beneficial to your continued learning.
You will receive one-to-one guidance and support throughout the programme from your:
Scheme Sponsor: A manager within the Chief People Officer business area who acts as a technical and professional adviser and has line manager responsibility.
- Placement Manager: Responsible for your day-to-day management and support with your development.
- Buddy: Usually an apprentice or graduate who gives support to you and ensure that you feel welcomed in the organisation.
- Development Adviser: Supports your professional development through providing career coaching and career progression at TfL.

Please pay close attention to emails and deadlines provided noting you have 1 week to complete assessments and we cannot re-issue these tests.
Assessment centres for apprenticeship roles will take place from February-April, please note that many roles only have 1 assessment day and we are unable to guarantee additional dates. We are conducting assessment centres in person and virtually (role dependent).
