We're proud to be a top 50 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2024), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.
The University of Sunderland is in an exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape at home and overseas.
About the role
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Lecturer in Social Work with experience of child and family practice to join our team. We are a friendly, progressive and professional team with an excellent reputation for providing high quality teaching and learning and student support.
The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate and Masters qualifying Social Work programmes (including our very successful undergraduate and post graduate apprenticeship programmes), as well as to post-qualifying courses. The role will involve module leadership, teaching and assessment, student supervision/support and curriculum development. You will support activities across the Applied Studies team and contribute to the research profile of the School of Social Sciences and Law by engaging in the school’s strong research culture.
What you can bring
Applications are invited from candidates who are Registered Social Workers with experience of child and family social work practice. Candidates need to have a strong commitment to high quality teaching and learning in a Higher Education environment. Candidates should be qualified to at least master’s level and have teaching experience in the Higher Education sector, ideally holding a teaching qualification. Experience of delivering online learning is also desirable.
Ideally, the candidate will have an active research profile with the potential to enhance the school’s return to the next Research Excellence Framework submission. You will contribute to the promotion of teaching, research and outreach activities across the Faculty of Education, Society and Creative Industries and particularly the School of Social Sciences and Law.
