Description
We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science to design and deliver teaching content in the classroom and laboratory, across a range of modules in various programmes within the Biological Sciences Subject area, with particular emphasis on biomedical science, laboratory skills, mechanisms of disease, biochemistry and student research projects.
(This is a part-time, 0.5 role)
About the Role
Within the role you will contribute to curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and research to enhance student learning. You will contribute to undergraduate teaching across levels 4-6 in Biological Sciences, particularly in areas related to our new Biomedical Science programme (launched in 2023). There will be associated module administration such as assessment, marking and feedback. The role also involves acting as an Academic Advisor to undergraduate students and supervising final year Dissertation projects. There will also be involvement in the promotion and marketing of the Biomedical Science course through recruit events and outreach.
About You
You will have recent, successful experience of university teaching in core areas of Biomedical Science and understand the importance of providing students with an excellent learning experience throughout their studies. Ideally this would include experience of leading modules and designing innovative assessments.
We would be particularly interested in candidates with experience of the professional frameworks and accreditation of Biomedical Science Programmes. You will be a proactive, flexible team player with excellent communication, problem-solving, and networking skills, and will be committed to delivering inspiring teaching and contributing to curriculum development.

Applicants with five years or less full time equivalent teaching experience in Higher Education who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Certificate in Professional Learning in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.
- Applicants with more than five years full time equivalent teaching experience in Higher Education who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6 month probation period.
