The Centre for Rheumatic Diseases at King’s College London, housed within the Department of Inflammation Biology, is a recognised EULAR Centre of Excellence. About the role
We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Senior Lecturer in Rheumatology to join the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases at King’s College London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to world-leading research and education while combining academic expertise with clinical practice.
The purpose of this role is to advance our research in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, with a focus on the safety and effectiveness of targeted immunotherapies. The appointee will lead innovative research programmes, leveraging real-world data and advanced methodologies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. The role also involves fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, both nationally and internationally, and contributing to the strategic objectives of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine.
Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases, the Clinical Senior Lecturer will also hold an honorary NHS consultant contract, enabling integration of clinical and academic responsibilities. This dual role ensures that research is closely informed by clinical practice, driving innovations that directly benefit patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will also play a key role in education, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through research-led teaching and mentoring. Responsibilities include supervising PhD students, leading teaching modules, and supporting the development of early-career researchers within the Centre.

This is a full time contract (40 hours per week), and will be offered a fixed term contract until 28th March 2028.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria
- Full GMC registration and completion of specialist training in rheumatology, with eligibility for an honorary NHS consultant contract
- A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field, with a proven research track record in rheumatology or immune-mediated inflammatory diseases
- Demonstrable expertise in rheumatology or a related field, with a history of high-quality, peer-reviewed publications and successful research funding applications
- Significant clinical experience in rheumatology, meeting the standards for NHS consultant-level practice, with a commitment to integrating clinical care with academic research
- Evidence of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience teaching small and large groups. Evidence of engagement with teaching delivery
- Proven ability to lead research projects, mentor early-career researchers, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration within academic and clinical settings. Experience with PhD supervision
- Experience with advanced data analysis techniques, particularly in the use of real-world data for studying immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, demonstrating alignment with Faculty priorities in data science and advanced therapies
Desirable Criteria
- Familiarity with innovative research methodologies, such as target trial emulation, for studying the safety and efficacy of therapies using real-world data
- Evidence of working with international research groups or consortia, contributing to global perspectives on immune-mediated inflammatory diseases and advancing multi-centre studies
- A track record of leading or contributing to clinical quality improvement initiatives within the NHS, with measurable impacts on patient care
- Experience in integrating public and patient involvement (PPI) into research or clinical practice, enhancing the relevance and impact of research outcomes

Grade and Salary: £105,504 per annum, plus £2,162 London Weighting Allowance, pro rata
