Cover Teacher
Salary: £125 - £160 per day

GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is currently recruiting for motivated
Cover Teachers for our client Secondary schools
located 19 miles north of York, North Yorkshire. This role involves delivering pre-planned lessons, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment during teacher absences.

- The school is an comprehensive secondary school with students aged 11-18 graded “Good” by Ofsted in quality of education and personal development this year.
- They have students from over 35 primary schools, which contributes to the friendly, diverse environment at the school.
- The school actively looks for ways to enhance its efficiency and benefits from collaborating with others.
- At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with another School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment.
- The school works hard to make sure that every student graduates with the knowledge and self-assurance necessary to actively participate in their communities and the credentials required to access the next stage of their education.
Cover Teacher Requirements
- Previous teaching or cover supervision experience preferred.
- Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Be confident in your approach to managing behaviour.
- Ability to adapt to teaching multiple subjects.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- Hold a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
Cover Teacher Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons left by the absent teacher.
- Maintain discipline and order in the classroom, ensuring that students follow the school's behavior and conduct policies.
- Provide feedback to teachers regarding lesson outcomes and student progress.
- Provide instruction, answer student questions, and facilitate learning, ensuring that educational objectives are met.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including during breaks, lunch, and other activities.
