The Role:
Blackpool and the Fylde College (B&FC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in Functional Skills English to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will excel in engaging hard-to-reach 16-19 year old learners, providing tailored support to students with SEND and EHCPs.
You will be teaching students who are studying technical programmes such as construction, automotive, catering, hair & beauty, and public services. You will play a crucial role in improving students' English skills, fostering a positive learning environment, and driving high achievement in Functional Skills English. Effective behaviour management will be key, as you implement strategies to maintain a respectful and focused classroom, addressing and resolving behavioural issues promptly and constructively.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
As a Lecturer in Functional Skills English, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching and support to students. Your main duties will involve:
- Delivering and managing inclusive learning, teaching, and assessment to a high standard.
- Assisting with curriculum design, development, and quality improvement.
- Monitoring student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression, providing targeted support.
- Engaging with digital and face-to-face teaching tools to enhance student learning.
- Contributing to the academic community through research, scholarship, and professional practice.
