Overview of role:
Early years practitioners play a large role in laying the foundations for a child's future learning and development. By planning and providing a nurturing and stimulating activities, play opportunities and environment, they have the opportunity to positively influence a child's prime and specific learning and development, leaving an impact on their lives.
Key details:
- Hours: Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm, 1hr break)
- 40 per week. Starting time and end time may change, e.g. 7am to 4 pm, 9 am to 6 pm, etc
- All Year Round (52 weeks per year)
- Wage: £6.40 per hour
- Location: 2 & 4 Brook Street, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU3 1DS
Apprenticeship details:
- Qualification: Level 2 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard
- Duration of course: 16 months
- Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated BEST UK provider !)
- All learning delivered online/ remotely alongside role.
Full Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan in advance activities, outings, learning situations with your colleagues and keep all records up-to-date.
- Ensure each individual child’s educational records are regularly updated and maintained for each child in your Learning Group.
- Assist children with physical care routines, such as in toileting and to ensure regular nappy changes during the day and remind children that are toilet training.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Encourage good manners and good personal hygiene.
- Comfort children, when upset, record any accidents, and report to the Deputy Manager.
- Ensure each child is treated as an individual and promote equal opportunities.
- Maintain good relationships and communicate with children.
- Ensure children in the Cubs Room have a bib on during breakfast, dinner, and snack times.
- Provide and carry out age appropriate activities to meet each of the children’s needs.
- Encourage children to eat meals provided, independently. Notify parents if any child has not eaten or drunk anything at a mealtime.
Skills & Personal Qualities:
- Enthusiastic, and have a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, committed, and punctual
- Professional, organised, and attention to detail
- Previous experience working with children is desirable, but not essential
- Confidence in your own ability to want to learn and develop
Qualifications Requirements:
- GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills) English (Grade 4) essential
- GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills) Maths (Grade 4) essential
