About the Role This is a full-time, reduced-year contract: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
We are looking to appoint an Assessor to work with our team and assess learners' progress in line with College policy and awarding body requirements. You will carry out assessments both in college and in the workplace. You will develop online and blended learning material to support learners and assess against agreed standards using an electronic portfolio. The post would be suitable for assessors with experience in assessing childcare, teaching assistants or health and social care qualifications.
The Childcare and Teaching Assistant team delivers part-time adult 19+ programmes across Leeds City College campuses and outreach centres. We offer a range of qualifications from entry-level to level 3 in early years, childcare, teaching assistants, health and social care, and special educational needs.
What You Will Do
- Assess learners in college and in the learners workplace.
- Manage group sizes to ensure all groups are infilled throughout the year to maximise efficiency.
- Work with the Head and admin to ensure the department achieves its annual budget.
- Work alongside teachers to ensure that learners make progress and achieve their qualifications.
- Produce individual learning plans for learners with clear targets for achievement.
- Develop the curriculum in line with the college e-learning strategy.
- Develop and prepare learning materials suitable for workplace qualifications.
- Keep and maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievements.
About You
- Hold or be prepared to work towards a L3 qualification in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
- Hold a Level 2/Level 3 qualification in a vocationally related subject area e.g. Childcare, Teaching Assistant or Health and Social Care.
- Have a good standard of written and spoken English.
- You should have sector-relevant experience.
- Experience of assessing different levels from Entry 3 to Level 3 preferred.
- Experience of using OneFile E-Portfolio and Google Applications desirable.
