We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for a Lecturer Business to join us.
You will join us on a 36 hours per week full-time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £24,872 - £43,440 inc. London Weighting p.a.
The Lecturer Business Role
To teach and assess on one or more of the courses delivered , or serviced, by the curriculum area, and contribute to the development of existing and new, innovative provision, including the implementation of motivational, flexible and blended learning and cost effective teaching and learning styles. You will complete the administrative work associated with teaching efficiently and effectively, including timely completion of registers (which are auditable documents and required by law), lesson planning documentation, schemes and records of work, e-ILPs, learner tracking and monitoring documentation and various forms of learner progression sheets.
Key Responsibilities Of Our Lecturer Business Role
- You will understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation and ensure that best practice is embedded in all working practices as required
- You must be able to demonstrate that you have recently participated in staff learning and development to update your teaching skills and to remain abreast of current developments in teaching learning and assessment. All candidates need to have excellent teaching skill and relevant experience.
- You will adopt a consistent and constructive approach in dealing with learner behaviour in accordance with the college's learner support and disciplinary policy
- You will be an active course team member and participate fully in meetings, career conventions, staff learning and development training sessions, conferences, seminars, open evenings and learner assessment/progression evenings in addition to teaching and administrative responsibilities
- You will organise and take part in study trips with students, locally and abroad, to enrich their learning experience
As our Lecturer Business, you should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- You will hold a degree or professional qualification in an area relevant to the work in the College. You must also have a teaching qualification. Non qualified candidates must achieve the AET within one year of the start of their employment with the college and DET (or Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeships) within 5 years.
- You must have a degree in a relevant subject.
- You must have recent and relevant experience of teaching own subject to learners.
- You must have the ability to facilitate excellent teaching, learning and assessment.
- Be a reflective practitioner
- You must possess excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- You will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and lifelong learning and understanding of how to use this to motivate and inspire learners.
