This exciting opportunity is open to existing practitioners and those with Civil Engineering experience looking to move into the construction training sector. The Construction Trainer is responsible for the delivery of a variety of CITB accredited Civil Engineering modules and other sector relevant courses to both employed and unemployed individuals within the South Yorkshire Region. The successful candidate will proactively engage with learners either on site, in our skills academies or online to ensure a successful learner journey and timely completion. They will also, where necessary, provide support to both the Profiling & Desk Based Training Teams. The role will be based in Sheffield but will require travel and overnight stays, all expenses provided. If required full training will be provided to ensure the candidate has all relevant Teaching, Assessing and Occupational competence. The successful candidate will undertake the following main Duties and Responsibilities: Ø Carrying out training and assessment using a variety of different methods as part of the delivery of qualifications at levels 2-3, to ensure the successful outcome for the full achievement of the programme in line with contractual requirements. Ø Deliver training modules at employers’ premises to both group and individual learners Ø To work closely with employers to plan delivery in line with durations agreed. Ø To upload and track all learning through e-portfolio OneFile so progress is evidence at all times. Ø Visiting learners in the workplace and delivering teaching & learning in line with the qualification requirements Ø Produce monthly progress reports of learners within your caseload. Ø Attend and participate in standardisation as planned / or required. Ø To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners with whom you come into contact Ø Complete all relevant funding documentation and administration tasks to meet compliance requirements. Ø Ensure that all Equal Opportunities policies and Health & Safety requirements (including Safe Learner Concept) are complied with always, and ensure all learners are given fair access to assessment. Ideally the candidate will possess the following Skills, Experience and Qualities: Ø Experience within the construction sector is essential Ø Experience of training and assessing in Construction, or the willingness to learn Ø Some knowledge around using an e-portfolio Ø Experience of teaching/training in a workplace environment in groups Ø Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ø Strong attention to detail Ø Able to follow processes Ø Enthusiasm in the workplace Ø Work well under pressure Ø Experience within Construction is essential Ø Full UK driving licence and use of own car, prepared to travel The ideal candidate will either possess or be willing to study towards the following qualifications: Ø A valid teaching qualification at a minimum of PTLLS Ø Recognised NVQ Assessor Qualification e.g. A1 or D32, D22, TAQA Ø Ideally a level 2 qualification in the specialist sectors of delivery Ø Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 or above.
