Who are we looking for?
The college is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be responsible for deployment of SEND support. This will include identifying students’ needs and coordinating the planning and delivery of comprehensive student support. The role holder will develop and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and support networks to ensure the provision of inclusive and personalised support for student with diverse needs and disabilities.
They will also play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive learning environment that fosters equality, maximises engagement and achievement, and
promotes positive student outcomes, progression, and independence.
Please note: This is a people management and delivery support role, where you will be managing a team of Lead LSAs.
The successful candidate will have:
- In-depth knowledge of different types of learning needs and disabilities, assessment processes, and appropriate support strategies for learners with diverse needs.
- Experience of working with students with SEND
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, and the ability to apply these to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, particularly, those who may be vulnerable or at risk.
- Knowledge of the legal requirements and statutory guidance of the SEND Code of Practice; experience in contributing to annual EHCP review meetings.
- Experience in developing and implementing support plans and for students with SEND, in collaboration with teaching staff and external agencies.
- Knowledge of funding streams and external agencies available to support learners with SEND, including local authorities and specialist organisations.
- Strong leadership and strategic management skills, with the ability to develop and implement student support strategies aligned with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, external agencies, learners, and their networks.
- Proficiency in data analysis and evidence-based decision-making to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learner support interventions and drive continuous improvement.
- Competency in providing professional guidance and support to staff, including training and development opportunities, to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting learners with SEND.
- Proven track record in successfully leading and managing learner support teams, whilst implementing inclusive practices, and driving positive outcomes for learners with
diverse needs.
The successful applicant will need to have experience of working with and leading small groups of children/young adults. It is essential to have experience in teaching, facilitating, assessing, or instructing learning and experience of working in a SEN setting would be highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have English and maths at Level 2, teaching qualification (DET equivalent or above) is desirable, relevant degree/management qualification at level 5 or above desirable.
