The Junior Apprentice Programme is aimed at key stage 4 learners who are disengaged in mainstream learning for various reasons. Our learners come from 22 Schools across the Cardiff & Vale area and study with us for two years. The programme is vocational based giving learners the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications in their chosen pathway, we run 5 pathways as part of the programme – Hair & Beauty, Catering & Hospitality, Multi Trades (Plumbing, Construction and Automotive), Health & Social Care and Digital Creative As a Learning Coach you will be: Providing students with appropriate levels of support and guidance to help them understand their learning styles, utilising coaching processes to enable the learners to learn more effectively; Working with groups in-class supporting skills development. Working outside of a classroom environment, acting as Learning Coach to Junior Apprenticeship learners. Supervising pre-16 learners during lunch and break times to ensure safety of the learners. Have an awareness of learners with additional learning needs and work with the learning support team to devise best working strategies for engaging learners. Establishing positive relationships with learners, putting individual learning needs first in order to guide and support them through the process of successfully completing their chosen learning pathway. Working with teaching staff to maximize the learners’ ability to learn and to help their motivation to remain in learning, and to achieve qualifications in either or both academic and vocational areas. You will have a sound educational background. A learning coach or youth work background would also be advantageous. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this role.
