£31,000 - £41,217 per annum DOE

Lecturer in Nautical Studies,
you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching and assessing.Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Nautical Studies will include:Undertake a teaching commitment as defined by the college, this will include delivering both theory and practical (workshop) classesUndertake the role of personal tutor and deliver tutorials and conduct progress reviews with studentsPromote high attendance across the study programme and follow up all non – attendance and unauthorised absencePlan, develop and deliver teaching learning and assessment on an agreed range of courses using appropriate delivery methods which considers learning styles, learning methods and new technologies.Mark students work and ensure that feedback is constructive to enable the student to further improve including spelling, grammar, and punctuation as part of the feedback.Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learningContribute to the design, delivery and future planning of the study programme and take responsibility for specific course organisation and curriculum development work.Manage the delivery of the blended learning curriculum for your course ensuring that students complete the required number of hours as stated in the study programme allocated hoursPromote British Values, Prevent alongside Equality, Diversity and SafeguardingDevelop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings internal and externalAs our Lecturer in Nautical Studies, you'll
ideally have:MCA OOW Certificate of Competency REG11/1 UnlimitedLevel 3 Certificate in Nautical ScienceHND Level 4GCSE English – Grade 5 and aboveGCSE Maths – Grade 5 and aboveMerchant Navy Officer, with a minimum of 12 months' sea time orRoyal Navy Equivalent with a minimum of 12 months watchkeepingThe ability to teach young adults and managing discipline.The ability to manage learners and learning effectivelyThe ability to develop effective learning resourcesExperience of using maritime/bridge simulatorsBenefits:37 days leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time staff)Access to our Employee Assistance Programme provided externally to the College.
