The role of a Lecturer in Nuclear Related Technology is to is to facilitate a positive learning environment for our degree level apprentices as they embark on their engineering career.

Gen2 currently operates from 5 training centres across Cumbria and over 150 employees, the vast majority of which are direct delivery staff. Through targeted development of commercial training Gen2 continues to grow its geographic and product portfolio. Gen2 has developed many higher level programmes to meet the needs of industry including the suite of nuclear related technology foundation degrees. The quality of teaching and learning is paramount, resulting in Gen2 success rates typically 20% above the national average.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has worked within the nuclear sector and is passionate about sharing their skills, knowledge and experience to develop others. Working as a member of a dedicated delivery team you will be responsible for teaching the nuclear content of our Gen2 Bridging Programme, L5 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship and L6 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Apprenticeship. Ideally you will be a qualified teacher and have a strong vocational background with an interest in innovative nuclear technologies and experience in the nuclear lifecycle including design, manufacture operations and decommissioning of nuclear plant.
Exploration in the field of nuclear technologies and pedagogy will enable you to create a research led curriculum and develop and deliver an innovative and flexible range of learning and teaching materials in a relevant subject area or across modules that provide high quality, accessible learning opportunities and an exceptional learner experience in line with Gen2s vision and quality standards.
What you will be doing;
- Working collaboratively as part of the HE team to deliver Gen2 Degree apprenticeship and HE provision.
- Teach and assess the various classes or groups assigned to you in accordance with established practice and conditions of service.
- Maintain expertise by undertaking professional development programmes as required
- Develop course material within the concept of the curriculum.
- Participate in internal verification and undertake evaluation of courses/programmes and the academic counselling of students.
- Participate in curricular development designed to meet the needs of the subject area
- To co-operate in ensuring that centre safety precautions are carried out and safety regulations adhered to.
- Assist with relevant administration as required

We require the candidate to have recent and relevant experience in industry, research or academic environment as well as a minimum of BEng or BSc Hons at Class 2.1 or above in nuclear technology or a related discipline. It is also important you have ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with learners employers and staff.
We are looking for someone with the ability to empower our future engineers and encourage development to achieve high standards across all studies.
Understanding apprenticeship standards is beneficial but not crucial to this role, and we would like you to have a PgCert Ed or equivalent or a willingness to attain this.
