Lecturer of Biology Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer of Biology on a full-time, permanent basis (0.8 – 1.0 FTE). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,000 to £41,217.00 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £24,547 to £31,000 pro rata per annum.) Responsibilities as our Lecturer of Biology will include: Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum Act as Course Leader, when requested Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records, IV and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum including blended learning approaches Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank including e resources for the relevant subject/courses. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips etc. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents’ Evening, as appropriate Advise and assist the Head of Curriculum and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms Act as Lead IV, when requested As our Lecturer of Biology, you’ll ideally have: A degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area to include Biology and Medical Science Excellent teaching skills The ability to manage learners and learning effectively The ability to develop effective learning resources Knowledge and understanding of current developments in Biology A level The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs Good administrative and organisational skills Effective communication skills The ability to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure and a range of demands Benefits you will receive: 37 days leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time staff) Access to our Employee Assistance Programme provided externally to the College.
