Adult Community Learning (ACL) is ECC’s provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents. ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances. The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex. ACL learners have access to a diverse range of accredited and non-accredited courses which encourage creativity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and engagement.
The Quality Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of educational quality, performance and continuous improvement. They will work closely with the Vice Principal for Quality and Compliance to complete a range of management tasks consistent with the role of Quality Manager. This will include maintaining and enhancing the learner experience within ACL and overall standards within ACL learning programmes.
Accountabilities
Lead a team of Careers and Skills Advisors and Teaching and Learning Mentors to ensure a high quality learning experience across the service.
Develop a careers and skills advisory team to ensure the effective delivery of advisory services within ACL.
Lead on the development and implementation of robust and comprehensive quality assurance cycle across all ACL including apprenticeship programmes, including learner feedback.
Working collaboratively with curriculum teams to address quality related issues promptly and ensure a cohesive approach to quality assurance promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Lead the development of robust self-assessment reporting and quality improvement plans that promote continuous improvement.
Develop an IAG and Progression team to ensure the effective delivery of advisory services within ACL and provide support for the development of learners’ employability and skills. This will include support to learners accessing online learning as well as personalised guidance for learners seeking to progress their career development and learning opportunities.
To support the VP Quality and Compliance with the management and oversight of the Teaching and Learning Strategy, which includes session visits and learning walks.
Support the Quality and Compliance team with the development and delivery of training across the curriculum and cross college teams as part of the Staff Development programme.
Analyse and interpret data related to learner outcomes, and report on relevant quality metrics and performance indicators.
Develop, review, and implement policies, and processes related to the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment.
To be the Quality Nominee for Awarding Organisations, and internal lead for EQA and IQA activity, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, accreditation standards and quality frameworks.
Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Degree in Education or a related field or equivalent experience with teaching experience with Adult Education.
Experience within a quality management role, preferably in adult education.
Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, educational standards, and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting.
Results driven, and motivated by achieving measurable improvements in the quality of teaching and learning.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
