We offer GCSE, AS and A Level sciences, as well as BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science and Level 1 at the Clarence Street Campus. To be aware of national developments in subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis. To plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons to achieve effective management of the learning process Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students and encourage independence and student autonomy Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote and maintain appropriate behaviour, communication and respect for others, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes. To set, mark and record work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies. To track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies 10. To provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences. 11. To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play and appropriate part in their implementation. Evaluate and improve own communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers To liaise with Assistant Dean in contributing to the design of programmes and teaching approaches which will enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value added To liaise with Assistant Dean and curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support the teaching, learning and assessment within the subject area To work with colleagues with relevant expertise to identify and address additional Digital, English and Maths skills for development within the subject area. To review own professional development needs and to participate fully in future training and development To communicate and consult with parents, carers and students including Parent’s Evening, Welcome Evenings, events and open evenings To ensure that all students in the subject area comply with College’s policies and procedures To provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating and enhance the student experience. To ensure learners are supported with a well prepared VLE and resources for independent study. A knowledge and appreciation of the different needs of learners and effective strategies to ensure all learners make progress Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Criteria: 1. Educated to Level 4 e.g. Degree or equivalent in Scientific or related degree 2. Successful recent previous teaching experience with 11-18 year olds 3. Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College 4. Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in Business 5. Knowledge and understanding gained from previous experience in delivering the BTEC and/or A level specifications. 6. Engaged and passionate about Continuing Professional Development. 7. Minimum of Level 1 Literacy/Numeracy . 8. High level of communication and interpersonal skills, an effective member of a team 9. Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves 10. Strong understanding of the importance and impact of feedback on learner performance 11. Experience using ICT to support and enhance subject delivery 12. Outstanding teacher who is student centred. Desirable Criteria: 1. A recognised Teaching qualification 2. Experience and understanding of ALPS and value added as progress measures 3. Good understanding of curriculum development to meet the training needs of employers 4. Experience with BTEC verification and standardisation 5.
