The successful applicant will contribute to teaching fashion and textile technology (which may include but is not limited to garment technology, garment production, and contemporary issues in fashion and textiles). The candidate will be aware of investigating advancements in fashion textile technology that impact design, garment manufacturing, and sustainability within the fashion sector, researching the technical aspects of product innovation in materials and manufacturing processes.
The successful candidates will have experience delivering the highest-quality teaching and learning. They will embrace an environment that values creativity, technology, and forward-thinking methodologies. They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team of educators and professional services who share the goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.
They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and can prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They can plan and prioritise their work schedule to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills, and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives.
The successful candidates will themselves be educated to at least Level 4 and capable of sharing their knowledge with our students in an engaging and informative manner that benefits their passion for the subject.
Teaching experience is desirable, but we seek someone confident in sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. We would support you in gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us.
- Teaching: Deliver engaging and effective lessons across a variety of curriculum disciplines.
- Curriculum Development: Lead the development of specific subjects within the curriculum, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.
- Research & Consultancy: Engage in significant research and consultancy activities to enhance the academic and practical learning experience.
- Course Verification & Leadership: Oversee course verification processes, coordinate course teams, and provide leadership to ensure high education standards.
- Impactful Role: Play a crucial role in shaping the future of the related industry by mentoring and educating the next generation of skilled professionals.
- Classroom Management: To ensure student retention and achievement targets are met. Provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn. Ensure that adequate resources and materials are provided to enhance learning, thereby enriching the opportunity and experience of learners.

A recognised teaching qualification or be willing to obtain within 2 years of appointment
A Bachelor/Master’s degree in an required discipline
Level 4 qualification (BTEC HNC, NVQ) in in a Fashion, textiles or Art discipline or be willing to work towards it
English, Maths, and Science at Level (GCSE A to C or equivalent)
Understanding of Fashion and Textiles and potential specialisms that you can inspire students to progress into
Recent experience of teaching in an FE/HE environment
Recent experience with some industry specialisms
Effective communication and presentation skills
Capable use of IT to promote teaching and monitor learning
Effective work management skills that can be translated into a classroom
Ability to provide high quality pastoral care to learners
Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational and relevant vocational environment
Comprehensive current technical knowledge and skills commensurate with the required vocational delivery
