As part of Engineering work-based team you will provide advice and support to Engineering Modern Apprentices. You will evaluate their knowledge and performance criteria required to complete their apprenticeships. This includes but is not limited to adherence to the qualification standards and the Internal Quality Assurance requirements. You will provide guidance to enable Apprentices in recording and presenting their e-portfolios with evidence meeting the criteria required in the qualification framework by setting up and maintaining a long term assessment program to ensure regular workplace visits.
You must be able to carry out a fair, safe and reliable assessment of the candidate’s skills and knowledge in the work place. As we are now moving towards e portfolios good current practice with IT systems is an advantage.
You must have proven, relevant, and up to date industry practice in the Fabrication & Welding industry at SVQ Level 3. Further training will be given if required. Experience in an engineering environment is essential for this position.
It is essential that you have excellent communication skills along with the enthusiasm for the relevant professional discipline skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and to manage your own workload. You should also have the ability to inspire, encourage and motivate others together with the desire to make a real difference to our students.
A recognised Assessor qualification (L&D9DI, A1 or D32/33) and Internal Verifier qualification (L&D11 or D34/35). would be desirable or you will be required to achieve these. An HNC in a relevant Engineering qualification would be advantageous
The role also necessitates travel therefore a valid driving license and access to a car is required.
