We're seeking a Junior Systems Engineering Technician to join our team in Northwich. As an apprentice, you'll work at our company and gain hands-on experience in building and repairing Mass Spectrometer Systems.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a small firm that manufactures world-class spectrometers used in gas analysis and measurement. You'll be responsible for wiring, electronics setup, identification of faults, and testing to specification. You'll also assist in creating simple APIs for receiving sensor data and work with applications like LabVIEW to design and maintain custom software for controlling instruments.

We're European Spectrometry Services (ESS), a small team of highly experienced and precision manufacturers of mass spectrometers. Our equipment is used worldwide, and we're proud of our reputation for delivering high-quality products.
A full-time role will be offered after successful completion of the apprenticeship. You'll be involved in travelling to customers' sites to repair and service equipment, install and commission new equipment, and develop your skills further.
Skills and Qualifications
- GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 in English and Maths or equivalent Functional Skills.
- Prior knowledge of electronics and mechanics is desirable but not essential.
- Logical thinking, ability to learn on the job, practical skills, and methodical approach are essential.
