Job Title: Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) - Access to Higher Education Diploma (Nursing)

Salary: £40000 p.a. (Pro-rata)

Reporting to: Head of Faculty (Health & Social Care & Apprenticeships)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to maintain and enhance the quality of delivery for Access to HE Nursing qualifications. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all assessments and teaching meet the standards set by awarding organisations and comply with regulatory requirements, including QAA, Ofsted and ESFA guidelines.
This part-time position requires a commitment of two days per month, providing flexibility while offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the organisation's high-quality provision.
Key Responsibilities
1.Quality Assurance
A. Conduct internal quality assurance activities, including sampling learner portfolios, observing assessments, and auditing assessor feedback to ensure compliance with awarding organisation standards.
B. Monitor and support assessor performance to maintain consistent, high-quality delivery.
2.Standardisation
A. Lead standardisation meetings with assessors to ensure consistent assessment decisions across qualifications.
B. Provide clear guidance on interpreting and applying assessment criteria effectively.
3.Assessor Support and Development
A. Deliver constructive feedback and guidance to assessors to support their development.
B. Identify training needs and recommend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to enhance performance
4.Regulatory Compliance
A. Ensure all IQA activities comply with:
i. Ofsted standards for teaching, learning, and outcomes.
ii. Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funding rules and audit requirements.
iii. Relevant awarding organisation guidelines and frameworks.
iv. QAA standards for Access to HE qualifications.
B. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of IQA activities to support inspections, audits, and other regulatory checks.
5. Regulatory Compliance
A. Ensure all IQA activities comply with:
i. Ofsted standards for teaching, learning, and outcomes.
ii. Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funding rules and audit requirements.
iii. Relevant awarding organisation guidelines and frameworks.
iv. QAA standards for Access to HE qualifications.
6.Reporting and Continuous Improvement
A. Prepare detailed reports on IQA findings, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
B. Support the organisation's continuous improvement initiatives by sharing best practices and suggesting areas for development.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
- A recognised IQA qualification (e.g., Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice or equivalent).
- Occupational competence and subject expertise in Access to HE Nursing.
- Proven experience in quality assuring diploma-level qualifications, particularly at Level 3.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including QAA, Ofsted, ESFA, awarding organisations, and other relevant bodies.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and analytical skills.
Desired
- Experience of leading standardisation meetings and contributing to policy reviews.
- Familiarity with Access to HE frameworks and associated delivery requirements.
- A proven ability to support and develop assessors to improve consistency and performance.
