Are you passionate about engineering and developing others? We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainer/Assessor to join our Engineering team, where you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality training and competence assessments. Reporting to the Engineering Training Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering both Technical and Safety training courses, ensuring that our teams meet the highest standards. Your work will directly contribute to the success and safety of Northern.
This is a safety-critical role, and shift work is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Trainer/Assessor, you will
- Conduct competence assessments in line with company procedures and standards.
- Deliver engaging Technical and Safety training in a professional manner.
- Provide structured feedback to artisan staff, Team Leaders, and Management.
- Support performance improvement across the business following training events.
- Work alongside other Trainer/Assessors to create and update training course material.
- Work closely with local Management and Safety Business Partners to ensure best practices are implemented.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with strong delivery skills and an ability to inspire others. To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Technical or Engineering experience
- Experience in working with Train rolling stock
- A recognised qualification to assess competence (or willing to obtain one)
- A qualification in delivering professional training (or willing to obtain one)
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent safety knowledge (or willing to obtain)
- IT skills
- Strong communication and literacy skills
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
