About us
UCL Medical School (UCLMS) is committed to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate education and has a strong reputation for teaching and curriculum development, informed by cutting-edge research.
The Clinical Lecturer (Teaching) will be a clinician with good experience and knowledge of medical education and who has an enthusiasm for embedding a culture of scholarship, excellence, and innovation across our 6-year undergraduate MBBS programme.
UCLMS is currently reviewing its whole curriculum to take account of the changing landscape within the NHS, the use of information technology within education and the NHS, as well as incorporating the GMC Medical Licensing Assessment. The post holder will be involved in the planning and implementation of new teaching across all years of the programme, as part of this review.
The post holder will work with other Clinical Lecturers (Teaching) within the department to provide ongoing support for existing medical education projects, teaching delivery, scholarship, as well as curriculum design and development.
This Clinical Lecturer role also encompasses working with the MBBS Admissions team to run our Multiple Mini Interviews and with our Widening Participation Team in the support of our Target Medicine mentorship scheme. Clinical Lecturers (teaching) are also involved in assessment writing, piloting OSCEs and running exams.
About the role
As a Clinical Lecturer (Teaching), you will collaborate closely with the MBBS Senior Leadership Team, academic staff, and professional services to enhance and innovate the Medicine degree curriculum. Your role will involve revising and developing teaching materials, introducing innovative methods like Team-Based Learning and online education, and ensuring alignment with the UCLMS Curriculum Map and GMC's Outcomes for Graduates (2018).
You'll support lecturers in delivering high-quality education in both classroom and clinical settings, while also engaging in pre-admission activities such as Open Days, Widening Participation events, and admissions interviews.
Additionally, you’ll contribute to the broader academic life of the department through involvement in research, public engagement, postgraduate teaching, and developing e-learning resources. You will also be encouraged to pursue your own professional development as a medical educator, participating in training and courses to enhance your skills.
This role offers the opportunity to shape future medical education and contribute to the growth and success of the MBBS programme at UCL.
