HR Assistant / Grade 6 / 37 Hours
About the Role: Join our dedicated Human Resources and Organisational Development (HR & OD) team at Bury Council. As a HR Assistant, you will provide comprehensive support to a high-performing, customer-focused HR Service. Your role will involve working in a fast paced environment, processing employment lifecycle requests, maintaining accurate records, and supporting recruitment and payroll processes.
Location: You will be based at Bury Town Hall 2 days a week, with the opportunity for hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational advice and support, responding to HR queries.
- Monitor HR inboxes and manage correspondence.
- Maintain accurate documentation and databases in line with GDPR.
- Support recruitment processes, including advert placement, pre-employment checks, and onboarding.
- Assist with payroll-related tasks and ensure timely processing of contractual amendments and payments.
- Represent the team at recruitment events and support project work.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications: GCSEs A-C / 4-9 including Maths and/or English. CIPD qualification or willingness to undertake a CIPD apprenticeship is desirable.
- Experience: Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within Human Resources. Experience in a customer-facing environment and handling confidential information is essential.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Attention to detail and the ability to follow policies and procedures and being adaptable to change are crucial.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
