The Moving and Handling Optimisation teamWe are a friendly, innovative and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team looking for a driven, dynamic and passionate Physiotherapist who wants to join us in making a real difference to the quality of life of Manchester’s residents.
The Moving and Handling Optimisation team is a citywide service with the aim of improving the independence of residents and ensuring the right level of care is being received. The team uses equipment, adaptations, assistive technology, and alternative moving and handling techniques to optimise care packages. There is lots of evidence that single-handed care is better for the resident. It improves relationships between the carer and resident, reduces handling for those affected by significant pain or cognitive impairment, encourages independence and leads to more effective use of resources. The team, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, a Senior Social Worker and Moving and Handling Assessment Officers, reports to the Principal Occupational Therapist and is therapy led. We are achieving great outcomes, we support and learn from each other and morale is high.
You will be responsible for completing comprehensive therapy assessments in conjunction with support of the team, whilst also working collaboratively with other therapy and social care services throughout MCC and the MLCO. We have a strong focus on enabling people to remain independent within their homes and local communities by maximising their independence, choice, safety and quality of life.
