£55k Job Purpose:
To manage and develop the workshop team to deliver their assigned teaching and assessment duties.To ensure quality, all accredited and commercial training is conducted within the workshop.
To manage the workshop's maintenance, operation, health, and safety.To aid in planning the academic year to include appropriate time for all business activities involving the workshop.
To monitor and improve the professional standards of both learners and staff within the businessMain Areas of Responsibility:
Team management and developmentTo be responsible for the overall management of the Workshop members and support the development of its staff's professional standards.Monitor and improve learners' professional standards, including conducting disciplinary procedures, monitoring attendance, and ensuring learners are promptly added to the risk register where necessary.
Manage the workshop ledger, including generating a budget, approving quotes, and managing delivery documentation for audit purposes.
Plan and conduct quality assurance activities, including work IQA, second-line assessment of work, and standardisation.Join the observation team in conducting Observations of Teaching Learning and Assessment to improve teaching quality across the business.
Assign and manage mentors for team members within the workshop where appropriate.
Ensure that mentor assignments are documented and the departmental manager is updated on mentorship progress.
Coordinate the workshop maintenance schedule to ensure all machines and equipment are serviced appropriately and the required documentation is stored securely for production when necessary.
Plan the academic year to include all appropriate business activities and allow for business growth.
Provide cover and teaching assistance within the workshop.
