The role is hybrid with Wednesdays working from home. Candidates must be able to commute to Crossgate’s for the other four days.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Write efficient and maintainable code using best practices for website development, in line with company coding standards.
- Work with other programmers and designers to create websites which match the agreed client expectations.
- Communicate with colleagues to gather and refine requirements while delivering projects within agreed timelines.
- Have a proactive attitude to research and documentation to gain the knowledge to complete a task.
- Create and maintain documentation for developed solutions.
- Improve and maintain existing projects.
Skills required:
- Willingness to learn existing and new technologies
- And good knowledge and understanding of PHP, SQL, Javascript, HTML and CSS
- Can analyse a technical problem and propose a solution
Personal qualities:

Minimum qualifications required:
GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 4 Software Developer, with training in how to:
- Create logical and maintainable codes for software development.
- Apply security best practice to the software solution throughout the software development life cycle.
- Apply appropriate recovery techniques to ensure the software solution being developed is not lost.
- Implement accurate and effective change control.
- Undertake unit testing of solutions, with appropriate levels of test code coverage, to identify and resolve issues.
- Apply suitable ‘bug fixes’ based on severity and priority.
