The college offers a wide range of programmes that are tailored to each individual’s needs. Landmarks operates from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Eckington, S21 4EF. Landmarks has several satellite provisions in Rotherham, Nottingham city Centre and a “real-life” hospitality and catering facilitate in Rainworth, Mansfield. These environments enable us to provide a range of personal and vocational training opportunities including: Agriculture Horticulture Animal Studies Hospitality & Catering Arboriculture Independent Travel Training Art Independent Living Skills Business Administration Labouring (CSCS) Conservation Retail Duke of Edinburgh Supported Internships Equine Studies Wildlife Management Floristry Work Experience Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites, including; college campuses, employer’s premises or communities local to your learners home - therefore willingness to travel is essential. There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car, insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day. Job Purpose: Our ALS Supervisor is employed to line manage and mentor LSA’s and support learners. In order to do this, they need to: be an outstanding LSA; have good subject knowledge across curriculum areas; be an excellent communicator; be patient, flexible and adaptable; must be able to make decisions and direct staff accordingly; and must be capable of managing challenging situations, with good time management skills with the ability to line manage, motivate and mentor effectively. Main Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to: Coordination – up to 3 days per week (possibility to change depending on business needs): Act as the LSA point of contact on allocated day(s) (e.g. learner engagement, breaks, timetable queries). To support with the day-to-day absence planning procedures to ensure learners receive support during periods of staff absence To line manage Learning Support Assistants. Work with the ALS Manager to review and resolve operational issues. Complete inductions, supervisions and appraisals of LSA’s. Foster high expectations and levels of professionalism within the LSA team, leading by example. Support the curriculum management team to ensure efficient and effective deployment of learning support throughout the day. Act as LSA representative within team and college meetings and forums. Mentor LSA’s to perform to the required standard as identified by the Quality Improvement Team. Complete observations of LSA’s as directed by the Quality Improvement team and/or ASL Manager. Work with the ALS Manager to develop, organise and monitor lunchtime enrichment activities, ensuring a consistent and high-quality enrichment experience for all learners, whilst ensuring accurate recording of participation levels and engagement. Support ALS Manager with management and administration of medication for all learners Working with the ALS Manager, to support mentoring and training activities aimed at improving individual/group performance. Planning and coordination of a particular area, and its activities. To undertake tasks as required from the ALS Manager. Learning Support Work collaboratively with Tutors, to provide a quality and beneficial experience for the learners linked to their goals and aspirations. Record and evaluate progress and achievement. To work at all of our sites, as requested with limited notice. Support learners at external work environments, enabling them to progress to work independently. Support Tutors to resolve learner issues and concerns. Supporting learners with challenging behaviour and help to develop strategies enable learners to overcome behavioural issues. Supporting Tutors in preparing resources for sessions. Assisting learners at breaktimes and encouraging them to engage in enrichment activities. Assist learners to ensure safe and efficient arrival and departure to/from college. Ensure learners are safe at all times with considerations for their health and well-being. Deliver personal care which meet or exceed learners’ requirement, promoting independence throughout, for example helping the learner with care needs to have a shower, to go to the toilet or to care for their skin or hair. To be an effective role model demonstrating best practice and have the ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times. To be aware of Landmarks policies and procedures, and to support and promote Landmarks’ vision and mission. Participate in the observation process for the Education provision that is linked to quality improvement. Undertake training as and when necessary, including RPI/Team Teach. Attend internal meetings, briefings and other forums as required.
