Post title: Director of Governance (Reference: SMB591) Hours: 22.5 hours Salary: £31,376.99 - £36,382.57 per annum (£51,597.72 - £59,829.12 FTE) Fixed Term Contract for 12 months We seek to appoint a dedicated Clerk to the Governors to provide independent advice, guidance and support to ensure that the Board of Governors is able to fulfil its responsibilities whilst operating properly and efficiently within the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. The Clerk will be the Governors’ first point of contact for all matters relating to the governance of the SMB Group and will facilitate the smooth administration of business in line with the SMB Group’s governing articles. Clerks play a vital role in organising governing body meetings and recording accurate minutes, whilst advising on changes in relevant legislation, policy and governance issues. You will provide professional support to our governing body to enable them to maximise the performance of the College and support the progress of our students. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative, manage deadlines, update and keep accurate written and electronic records. The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is paramount. You will need to attend various governing body meetings some of which may take place in the evening. Access to a computer, home printer and the internet from home is essential as some of the work will be home based. The successful applicant will also provide clerking services to Stephenson Studio School, a separate legal entity, governed as an academy. Knowledge of how Colleges and governing bodies operate would be an advantage along with previous experience.
