The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team have an exciting new opportunity for a Employment and Training Advisor to engage within the community of Salford within the Health and Social Care Sector, raising awareness of the support and skills and work opportunities available to Salford residents .You will be working with key partners and employers in the city and advising and supporting residents, in order to maximize outcomes for those residents, who are unemployed or underemployed into positive progression outcomes for example, into skills training and or quality work opportunities.
We help to make a lasting difference to the residents and employers across Salford on behalf of Salford Local Authority, by supporting individuals to gain meaningful employment.
Our highly skilled advisers and keyworkers work with a range of individuals; from people who have found themselves recently out of work, to those with complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill-health and debt.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise awareness of the service through targeted marketing and outreach activities to increase the number of referrals.
- Ability to work to targets, attracting new residents to the service, ensuring quality and appropriate referrals.
- Develop and maintain excellent caseload management relationships with customers and residents who take up the services to maintain engagement.
- Conduct professional face to face and telephone pre-screening interviews with customers, depending on employers’ requirements.
- Provide a highly efficient and customer focused recruitment and placement service, including managing speculative and/or coordinated submissions to employers and providing feedback to candidates.
- Develop clear and informative candidates resumes, with the support of the candidate, to speculatively promote the individual to the employer.
- Ensure that learners are appropriately placed (with the right type of employer in the right job role) in line with their skills sets and employers’ requirements.
- Support customers throughout their work exposure placement and when entering employment.
- Identify opportunities for own development and maintain own knowledge of contract/policy developments.

- Dynamic, tenacious, values driven individual with a commitment to achieving the identified outcomes specific to the role.
- To act as an ambassador of The Growth Company and Salford Council at all times.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and promotional skills, telephone manner, good organisational skills, and excellent IT skills.
- Well-developed IT skills, including and understanding of computerised management information systems, spreadsheet, diary management and email.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good Caseload management.
Skills Required:
- Good knowledge of welfare to work and the customer base.
- Excellent knowledge of the Health and Social Care local labour market, methods of recruitment and growth industries.
- Knowledge of funded skills provisions including Adult Education Budget (AEB).
- Understanding of ESOL requirements and barriers/ challenges.
- Ability to provide robust IAG with a focus on the Health and Social Care Sector (IAG qualification desirable).
- Able to work to challenging targets and key performance indicators.
- Ability to obtain information and record information accurately with high level of attention to detail.
- Work with a range of agencies to promote and disseminate information to generate referrals.
