Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English GCSE & Functional Skills Lecturer to join our team at North Lindsey College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English GCSE and Functional Skills to learners who have not yet achieved a grade 4 and are enrolled in vocational programs. This role involves curriculum development, lesson preparation, classroom management, and student assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver English GCSE and Functional Skills curriculum.
- Prepare learning materials and mark student assignments.
- Manage the classroom environment and support learners’ individual needs.
- Contribute to course verification, leadership, and quality assurance.
- Recruit and select students for relevant programs.
- Participate in departmental activities, including the annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and staff appraisal system.
- Undertake professional development and training as required.
Essential Criteria
- Appropriate teaching qualification or substantial industrial experience (or working towards a teaching qualification).
- Relevant subject expertise and a degree or equivalent professional qualification at level 3.
- GCSEs at grades 4-9/A-C in English and Maths or level 2 equivalents.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a lecturing or training role within the Further and Higher Education sector.
- Knowledge of innovative learning and teaching techniques.

- Permanent position subject to satisfactory probation period.
