We strive to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment that champions difference and celebrates success. We are asking ourselves some fundamental but hugely important and far-reaching questions at DMU: what will be the education of the future that we want to provide? How will it be distinctive, relate to the city and the future world of work, and be inspiring and - reflecting on the ambitions of our founders - 'elevating’? How do degree and skills-based qualifications stay relevant throughout someone’s working life? Working closely with the Director of Research, Business and Innovation and the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Skills and Training, you’ll provide strategic insights that drive evidence-based decisions, supporting the university’s objectives in areas like apprenticeships, short courses, and higher technical qualifications. Your work will ensure that all aspects of DMU's skills-based learning—planning, implementation, and growth—are seamlessly coordinated across academic, professional, and business development teams. In this role, you’ll drive the university’s growth in targeted areas, such as Digital Skills, Allied Health, Leadership and Management, and Engineering, helping DMU expand its apprenticeship offerings, strengthen partnerships, and prepare for initiatives like the Lifelong Learning Entitlement. Additionally, you’ll oversee quality assurance and reporting, ensuring robust standards that align with industry and government expectations. Ideal Candidate To excel as the Head of Higher Technical Education and Professional Skills, you’ll bring a postgraduate degree and extensive experience in shaping higher technical education within higher or further education settings. You’ll have a successful track record of managing high-level partnerships, navigating the skills delivery landscape, and driving impactful initiatives in areas like apprenticeships, higher technical qualifications, and professional development. Strong business development skills and experience in strategic engagement with industry, government, and educational bodies will be key to your success in this role. In addition, you’ll be a skilled leader who can foster collaborative partnerships and position DMU at the forefront of skills-based education. This role is ideal for an innovative, results-driven professional with a passion for elevating technical education and skills to new heights. If you are a strategic, forward-thinking leader with a commitment to advancing higher technical education and building impactful partnerships, we encourage you to apply.
