About The Role
Essential Roles & Responsibilities
- Leading role in growing our Sales Academy Programme, working with your team and wider business stakeholders to develop our sales staff, meeting the needs of the business and senior stakeholders.
- Apply a clear understanding of the skills, knowledge and abilities required to support the organisation’s vision and long-term goals by researching and authoring a programme of foundational learning accessible to all employees across the organisation.
- In conjunction with your capability colleagues, source, design and deliver fit-for-purpose training programmes to meet current and future needs of the organisation.
- Work with the Head of Learning, Development & Capability to promote a continuous development and self-study culture within Claranet that, in turn, contributes to our reward & recognition program.
- Hold Quarterly Capability Reviews (QCRs) with HR Business Partners and department stakeholders to review objectives and training engagement.
- Contribute to the annual forecasting and budgeting of training requirements by liaising with the Head of Learning, Development & Capability, department heads and Finance teams, ensuring it is aligned to the overall Learning & Development budget.
- Promote a consistent message across training, learning and development workstreams, including onboarding & induction, probation, development objectives, appraisals and performance management programs.
- Work with HR on all training and development initiatives across the business, such as: succession planning, coaching and mentoring programmes.
Change Management
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to implement new Learning & Development workflows, whilst retiring legacy tooling and processes.
Service Tooling
- Research & drive the adoption of innovative methods of development and content delivery, i.e. e-learning platforms.
- Contribute to annual appraisals of external training partners and report appropriate recommendations using engagement metrics.
People & Wellbeing
- Design, implement and lead a new Leadership Development Programme. This involves identifying the skills and competencies required for effective leadership within the organisation and developing a tailored program to enhance those skills.
- Develop and deliver a programme that includes training, education, and awareness-building initiatives aimed at promoting a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
- Working with the wider HR team, provide support and input to ensure that the employee benefit offering maintains an innovative and strong focus on wellbeing.
- Work with members of the HR, L&D and Talent teams to author a compelling induction and on-boarding programme, taking input from members of the SLT and SMT communities.

Position Summary
The Learning, Development & Capability Specialist has responsibility for providing a first-class service to the business, ensuring timely resolution to issues raised and proactively look at ways to continuously improve the service offered. Working within the HR function is always challenging but also very rewarding as the function has the ability to support and drive performance (remotely and directly) across the UK business and its functions through exemplary organisational practices.
Role Mission
The HR function is a professional environment and a team of twenty which consist of HR, Talent Acquisition and Facilities staff, split across London, Gloucester and India. It provides a full HR generalist and specialist service to Claranet for all its sites across the UK and India. We are a passionate and driven team with a vision to provide a high-level of service to the organisation. This new role will be a crucial part of a recently created and exciting team that will revolutionise the strategy, processes and outcomes of Learning & Development across our 500-strong UK workforce.
Objectives and Key Results
The Learning, Development & Capability Specialist is part of the UK L&D and Capability Team, and represents an area of strategic business importance.
The key objectives are:
- Sales Academy Programme: Foster the growth of our Sales Development Representatives through and engaging programme of professional development, internally authored and developed to turn our most junior sales talent into our next generation of rising stars.
- Core Technical Skills: Promote a curriculum of foundational technical knowledge across all UK staff to avoid the infamous “Digital Skills Gap”.
- Role-Based Learning: Multi-disciplined learning paths for all skilled roles (commercial, delivery sales, projects, solutions, engineering)
- Durable Skills Development: The bedrock of professional & personal development; ensuring that our people hold the essential “soft skills” to communicate and grow.
